Dhoni Nominated for ICC Awards

Mahendra Singh Dhoni, the captain of Indian cricket team, has been nominated for the following awards:

1. Cricketer of the Year Award
2. Test Player of the Year Award
3. ODI Player of the Year Award

Dhoni won the ICC ODI Player of the Year award in 2008. Dhoni is also currently ranked as No. 1 ODI player in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Championship Batting Rankings. Dhoni is at No. 1 position with 828 rating points and Yuvraj Singh is at No. 2 position with 784 points. But, Dhoni is listed comparatively lower in the Reliance Mobile ICC Test Championship Batting Rankings. He currently stands at No. 33. The list is led by Sri Lankan skipper Sangakkara and is followed by Gautam Gambhir.

The LG ICC Awards ceremony is now in its sixth year. The award ceremony for 2009 will take place in Johannesburg on October 1, around the ICC Champions Trophy. THE LG ICC awards will be based on the 12 months period between August 2008 and August 2009.

Dhoni has played 8 test matches in the qualifying period, accumulating 544 runs at an average of 54.40. He scored seven half-centuries, with 92 being the highest score.

In the ODI arena, Dhoni has played 24 matches in 2008, accumulating 967 runs at an average of 60.43. He scored nine half-centuries, with 95 being the highest score.
